About Me & My Podcast
I am a wife, educator, the daughter of a ’59 Grad, and Mom to two former Mids, I have a life long affiliation with the Naval Academy. My podcasts are part of my mission to empower and equip USNA parents for the four year journey with relevant, useful, and up-to-date information.
The content includes topics that complement my book, A USNA Mom’s Journal and my special guests offer varying perspectives on topics of interest for each N*avy family’s journey.
The podcast is one of the ways that I give back to my N*avy family for all the help that we received as we journeyed through the four years By the Bay. It is a labor of love that allows me to “pay it forward.”

“Priceless!!! AN Shine’s book and podcasts have been the beacon of light in the dark and unknown waters for all of us USNA newbies. AN’s fantastic, detailed, and thorough descriptions and suggestions take a lot of the mystery out of the process and made me feel comfortable dropping off my 17 year old alone at Gate 1 for I Day (during COVID). They have continued to help me feel in the loop for the various milestones, and events. My Mid is now a Firstie and will soon be joining the Fleet or Marine Corps. I will never be able to thank AN enough for her guidance and support!”

“This book [A USNA Mom’s Journal] is a terrific, real-life, and timeless work about Mids and USNA life in the Brigade. I’m honored to have it on my bookshelf with other special books that I admire. I will let my sponsor Mid know, “You need to buy this book for your Mom!”
